ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical adventure and role-playing games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed! ScummVM is a complete rewrite of these games' executables and is not an emulator.

On POSIX systems we now follow the XDG Base Directory Specification forplacement of files for users. This effectively results in new locationsfor our configuration file, our log file, and our default savegame path.We still support our previous locations. As long as they are present, wecontinue to use them. Please refer to the README for the new locations.File locations on Mac OS X are not affected by this change.
Fixed long-standing bug in decompressing sounds from thespeech/music CLU files. It was generating one sample too many,which could be heard as a very slight popping noise at the end ofsome sounds. Files that have been compressed with older versionsof compress_sword2 will, of course, still have the same error. Youmay want to regenerate them.
Initially, the 5.25-inch and 3.5-inch floppy drives were the principal forms of removable storage for backup of user files and distribution of software. As memory sizes increased, the capacity of the floppy did not keep pace; the Zip drive and other higher-capacity removable media were introduced but never became as prevalent as the floppy drive.
An operating system (OS) manages computer resources and provides programmers with an interface used to access those resources. An operating system processes system data and user input, and responds by allocating and managing tasks and internal system resources as a service to users and programs of the system. An operating system performs basic tasks such as controlling and allocating memory, prioritizing system requests, controlling input and outputdevices, facilitating computer networking, and managing files.
Even before the Steam Deck launched, people were running Switch games on PC with greater performance than the actual console they are emulating. Thus, the Switch has the simplicity of a tablet. This doesn't mean it's weak and feeble, it means it's easier to translate and emulate to PC compared to all other current gen consoles.
